65 Recipes To Throw The Perfect Vegetarian Barbecue

With many meat-free option available there is no need for vegetarians, vegans and flexitarians to feel left behind this barbecue season.

If the prospect of a big cookout feels a bit daunting just follow these simple rules:

  • Keep it simple: instead of mixing too many cuisines, stick to 1 or 2 where flavours complement each others.
  • Prepare in advance: don’t leave it to the last minute. Make sure most of the food can be prepared the day before.
  • Get organised: put 1 or 2 people in charge of cooking on the barbecue and organise the rest of the food as a buffet.
  • Nibble: have something for people to nibble on while they wait for the barbecue to work its magic.
  • Keep it relaxed: choose food and dishes that are easy to eat with one hand or standing. Serve food on big sharing platters.
  • Start early: make sure the barbecue gets fired up in advance so it has time to heat up. The timing depends on the type of barbecue you have.

A vegetarian barbecue is a lot of fun. Below, I have rounded up some of my favourite recipes to cook on the grill. In addition to kebabs, burgers and vegetables cooked on the barbecue, I like to have a selection of salads and dips plus one or two savoury quiche or pie.

Happy grilling!
