Boosting our natural immunity is the best way to ward off bugs and lurgies. This is especially important when our bodies need to adjust to seasonal changes such as Spring pollens or in the Autumn just before cold and flu seasons. Autumn is a hard one for me, my overall energy level takes a dip and I usually get a cold. Spring can also be challenging and I generally welcome the first blossoms with increased sneezings!

A balanced diet is paramount for the immune system to stay strong with a focus on vitamins A, C & Bs , iron, zinc, antioxidants and probiotics. Kale is a nutrient rich food high in vitamins A, C & Bs, iron, zinc and antioxidants. Some of these nutrients are damaged during cooking so eating kale raw will preserve its goodness. Personally, when eating it raw, I prefer using organic kale especially when making smoothies, juices or salads.

The following recipes are a delicious way to boost your immunity naturally and hopefully keep the nasties at bay.
