WELCOME TO THE FLEXITARIAN

Less Meat, More Plants… Go meat-free any day of the week by adopting a flexitarian diet.

Whether you have just decided to eat less meat or are already a committed flexitarian, vegetarian or vegan you will find a lot of useful information on my website as we explore flexitarianism through the health, ethics and environmental issues linked to meat consumption.

Flexitarians primarily focus on increasing their consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and plant-based proteins like tofu or tempeh. These foods are rich in essential nutrients and fibre while being low in saturated fat. By following a flexitarian diet, individuals can enjoy the health benefits associated with a plant-based lifestyle while still maintaining some flexibility to include animal products if desired.

My flexitarian journey started over 10 years ago when my husband and I decided to reduce our meat consumption because of environmental concerns. It has been such an exciting and rewarding journey that I decided I needed to share it with others. I hope that you will find this website useful.

My vegan and vegetarian recipes are designed to inspire everyone so that they embrace a plant-based lifestyle. It’s so easy! Read my story.

WHAT IS THE FLEXITARIAN DIET

The flexitarian diet is a plant-based diet with the occasional addition of meat.

Flexitarians are also known as flexible vegetarians, casual vegetarians or vegivores. Quite simply there are no rules. Some will have a meat-free meal once a week while others will only eat meat and other animal products such as fish or dairy on rare occasions.

The flexitarian diet is very popular, especially with people who do not want to commit to a full vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. A semi-vegetarian diet often feels less daunting to embrace, allowing flexibility to adapt to individual lifestyle, social life or health conditions.

Surprisingly the adepts of flexitarianism are not only people who want to reduce their meat consumption but also vegetarians or vegans who decide to reintroduce meat into their diet.

Contrary to strict vegetarianism or veganism, which completely eliminate animal products from the diet (except dairy and eggs for vegetarians), flexitarianism allows individuals to enjoy occasional servings of meat or fish if they choose to do so. This flexibility makes it easier for people who find it challenging to completely give up meat but still want to make positive changes towards a healthier lifestyle.
