Why “Healthy Eating” Is No Limitation At All

When it comes to healthy eating, it’s easy to assume that the moment you want to make a positive healthy change regarding your dietary habits, you will immediately begin swimming uphill. But is this really the truth?

There’s an age-old idea that the foods we most want are those that are terrible for us. Sure, when we were children, if we had the chance to eat ice cream every moment of the day, we likely would. Moreover, relatively unhealthy food is all around us, from the ease of it being delivered to our door through food delivery apps, to the constant marketing investment in sugary, sweet or caloric-dense foods everywhere we look.

As such, it’s easy to assume that the moment you want to make a positive healthy change regarding your dietary habits, you will immediately begin swimming uphill. But is this really the truth? After all, unhealthy eating is just one, and relatively minor dietary choice we could make. As strange as it sounds, most food out there and most eating norms aren’t quite so harmful.

Put simply – “healthy eating” doesn’t have to be a limitation at all. In this post, we’ll discuss why that is, and help you integrate those new habits you’re more than capable of making.

Scanning For Nutrients Is Easier Than Ever

Keeping track of the nutritional value in your food is much easier than it seems, especially compared to the old days. There are many mobile apps such as Lose It! Or MyFitnessPal that allow you to enter a product and see other user entries for the nutritional stats by weight. This means if you’re calorie counting, you don’t have to think about the process too much. But it’s also true that learning certain staples is worthwhile. For example, one egg has around six grams of protein. Keeping that in mind can be key.

Learning To Cook With Basic Ingredients Is Cheap & Easy

We assume that cooking with simple frozen food is the easiest, and it can be, but that doesn’t mean you’re eating cheap food. Heading to your local grocer or butcher, opting for certain deals or going on promotional days can give you access to fresh ingredients, understand the weights involved, and gain a great deal. You’ll also be supporting businesses and avoiding the constant shrinkflation that supermarket brands try to get away with.

Healthy Food Is Delicious & Varied

Healthy food is simply food that has good nutritional depth and without too many artificial sweeteners or colourings. So for example, toast can be healthy if you enjoy sourdough and not overly processed or sickly sweet sugary bread. Healthy food is delicious and varied because there’s so much of it. Oily fish, good meats, vegan foods (be mindful of sugar content), even fresh pasta can all be great, and it shows the conventional “bad foods” don’t have to be “bad” if treated well. For example, if you’re managing a condition like type 2 diabetes, you might focus on steaming or air frying vegetables instead of roasting them in oils to save on caloric intake. As you can see, slight adjustments mean you can enjoy a world of good, and move forward knowing artificial limitations never really help.

With this advice, you’ll be sure to enjoy healthy eating, knowing that there are no limitations to hold you back.
