1. COCONUT & PEANUT BUTTER FROM MERIDIAN
I could not resist grabbing one of these from the supermarket shelf. The best of both worlds, coconut and peanut brought together in a delicious smooth spread. Great on toast, porridge or in smoothie. The taste is not as strong as peanut butter with the added mellowness of coconut. This coconut & peanut butter has no added salt or palm oil. However, it is not suitable for vegans as it contains honey.
2. JULIENNE PEELER
A Julienne peeler (or cutter) is an essential kitchen gadget that will transform Summer vegetables into low-carb noodles, stir-fries or funky salads. This thrifty alternative to a spiraliser is ideal if you are short in space or on a budget. You can buy it here.
3. ORGANIC WHOLEMEAL SPELT FLOUR FROM DOVES FARM
I use this wholemeal spelt flour to make bread, cakes and/or muffins. It adds fantastic flavours and structure. It is also ideal if you have kids who are not so keen on eating anything else than white flour. Spelt is an ancient grain that requires little pesticides and chemicals to grow. Try making the Roman style loaf recipe at the back of the packet. Sooo delicious!
4. COCONUT SUGAR FROM COCONOM
Coconut sugar is very versatile. A healthy unrefined alternative to sugar, you can add it to drinks, yoghurts etc.. and even bake with it. It has a low GI of 35 and is bursting with nutrients and vitamin Bs. It tastes just like regular brown sugar without a hint of coconut.
5. ORGANIC SILKEN TOFU FROM CLEARPSPRING
Soft and smooth, silken tofu adds a touch of creaminess to smoothies, sauces and desserts. You can also use it as an egg replacement in vegan baking. It works equally well in sweet or savoury dishes.
