6 Tips To A Healthier, Happier You

6 Tips To A Healthier, Happier You

If you are happy (and healthy) and you know it, clap your hands! If not you might want to follow these simple tips to a happier and healthier you:

1. Watch What You Eat

Your diet will not only have a huge impact on your health, but on the way you feel overall. This isn’t to say you need to swap your favourite foods for a diet of lettuce leaves – we all need a cheeky Nandos once in a while, otherwise where is the happiness? But a balanced diet is the key to a healthier lifestyle. Take a look through a selection of women’s magazines for recipe ideas that are both healthy and tasty!

2. Drink Plenty of Water!

Sure, a can of coke tastes delicious, but alongside the ten teaspoons of sugar it contains, do you know what it is doing to your body?

Swap your can for a glass of water! Whilst keeping you hydrated, water is obviously much healthier for you as it has no calories or sugar. However, these aren’t the only benefits to ensuring you drink your recommended two litres a day! Water also clears your skin, prevents headaches and dizziness, boosts your energy and more!

Plus, you could always add a slice of lemon, lime or cucumber for a refreshing flavor – that will also detox and cleanse your body!

3. Exercise Regularly!

Regular exercise keeps you physically fit and healthy, but it also reduces stress – the source of many illnesses.

If running on a treadmill fills you with dread, how about attending weekly yoga classes? There are several benefits to yoga for both your mind and body, including better sleep, more energy and less anxiety.

4. Laugh, Everyday!

‘Laughter is the best medicine’ – whether you are having a giggle with friends or laughing out loud to your favourite comedian, laughter really is good for you both mentally and physically. As well as protecting your heart, lowering your blood pressure and improving your breathing, it also gives you a mini workout. In fact, laughing 100 times is the equivalent to 10 minutes on the rowing machine or 15 minutes on an exercise bike!

5. Take Time for Yourself!

We live in a fast paced world. A world where we are glued to social media, continually scrolling through Twitter and Instagram, comparing ourselves to others, which as a result can leave us feeling like we aren’t skinny enough or pretty enough. Alongside this we are constantly being told we need products, wealth and beauty, to feel happy and healthy.

But it is actually much simpler than that. So put your phone down and take time for yourself, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Run a hot bubble bath, relax with a good book or take a long walk through the countryside – whatever makes you feel happy and relaxed!

6. Enjoy the Moment

The pursuit of happiness is the source of unhappiness. We spend so much time looking back at the past or forward to the future, that we don’t appreciate the present. That’s not to say you shouldn’t set goals for your future, but ensure you are taking time to enjoy the moment. You will ultimately feel much happier for it!

These tips are extremely easy to achieve and it will take very little effort to make some huge differences in your life. Start with these six tips and you will find you are feeling both happier and healthier in no time!
