The World Of The Happy Pear – Review + Giveaway

The World of The Happy Pear v800

Irish twins Stephen and David Flynn (aka The Happy Pear)  have an infectious smile and enthusiasm. Following the No 1 bestseller success of their first book, the dynamic duo is back with a new cookbook bursting with scrumptious vegetarian recipes.

Last week I was invited to the first ever Penguin Vegetarian Cookery Evening. Enjoying a beautiful view of London, we were treated to food and cookery demos by The Happy Pear and Meera Sodha.

World of The Happy Pear 3

After a dramatic headstand entrance, Stephen and David gave us a taste of their delicious mojito smoothie.

World of The Happy Pear 2

Growing up as complete meatheads (their word, not mine), Stephen and David became vegetarian while travelling separately around the world. Amazingly, both their transitions happened simultaneously even though one was in Africa and the other in Australia. Talk about strange twin coincidence!

Their latest book, The World of The Happy Pear, is inspired by their friends, family, colleagues and everyone involved in their world which to date includes a family-run natural food store, two wholefood cafés and evening restaurant in Greystones and a superfood sprout farm in Kilcoole.  The cookbook is a cornucopia of over 100 mouth-watering and straightforward vegetarian recipes designed around family life.

From breakfast to barbecue, there is something for everyone. The World of The Happy Pear is a true testament to how healthy and delicious vegetarian food can be. Stephen and David’s inspiration is multi-cultural from places such as Vietnam, Morocco or India. A real melting pot of deliciousness.

With too many to list here, some of my favourite dishes include a grilled halloumi burger, a creamy coconut porridge, some flax seeds protein bars or a coconut, ginger and lemongrass soup.

The World of The Happy Pear is out on June 2nd. If you would like a chance to win a copy, you can enter this week’s competition below.
