Circus Vegan Tasting Menu

Circus Vegan Tasting Menu

Established 10 years ago, Circus London is a cabaret, restaurant and cocktail bar cleverly hidden in the heart of Covent Garden. Its new Vegan Tasting Menu is the latest plant-based gem to hit the London’s restaurant scene.

Behind the minimalist entrance of Circus, stretches a long dining room adorned with an extremely well-stocked bar. An impressive quartz ‘Stage’ table, seating up to 28 guests, dominates the room while smaller dining tables are scattered around if you prefer something more intimate.

The food is Pan-Asian available À La Carte (with or without sharing option) or as a 4-Course Sharing Menu. The latest addition is a Vegan Chef’s Tasting Menu, a four-course extravaganza served to share and including a glass of prosecco each (also vegan!).

The brainchild behind this latest vegan menu is executive chef Andrew Lassetter who has created something quite exceptional here. It’s not just good, it is a very good plant-based menu. Some of the best vegan food I have had so far.

The food is refined and flavoursome, bound to please vegans and carnivores alike. Composed of a selection of small dishes Circus Vegan Tasting Menu includes:

CIRCUS VEGAN TASTING MENU

BEFORE
Glass of prosecco
Nori Poppadums
Edamame Beans
Banh Trang Rolls

SMALL
Crispy Cauliflower & Four Bean Salad
Date & Water Chestnut Gyoza
Truffle & Mushroom Spinach Parcel

LARGE
Chilli Crusted Tofu
Quinoa & Pomegranate San Choy Bau

— Selection of sides served —
Grilled Asparagus
Smoked Aubergine
Steamed Jasmine Rice

DESSERT
Mango Sorbet Eaton Mess

Smoked Aubergine

Each dish is extremely tasty and well presented with colourful garnish and edible flowers. I absolutely adored the Chilli Crusted Tofu. Perfectly cooked, it is crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Heaven on a plate even if you are not a tofu fan.

Crispy Cauliflower & Four Bean Salad

I also loved the Mango Sorbet Eton Mess (made with aquafaba) as well as the Date & Water Chestnut Gyoza and Truffle & Mushroom Spinach Parcel. Every dish was perfectly balanced with dips or sauces.

The experience at Circus is not only limited to the food though. As the evening progressed, the lights dimmed and throughout dinner, we were entertained to glittering cabaret performances as skilled aerialists, acrobats, magician and fire-breathers took centre stage on the quartz ‘Stage’ table.

The show changes every night “popping up in short bursts, sporadically throughout the evening”.

It’s modern and sexy and thoroughly enjoyable. Do visit my IGTV channel for a taste of it.

From a cheeky martini after work to a full sit down dinner there are many ways to enjoy Circus. You will need to book in advance. Peak time in the bar and lounge stretches to late week-end evenings when the music keeps things moving as late as 2am.

Priced at £65 per person or £75 per person for groups which include the Stage table, the vegan menu also needs to be booked at least 24 hours in advance and a £15 per person deposit is required to secure a table.

While we were guests at Circus, I would happily pay that price. The food was well beyond my expectations and the performers were really good. What a truly enjoyable evening with a Dinner and Show experience to remember.
