14 Recipes To Use Stale Bread

14 Recipes To Use Stale Bread
14 Recipes To Use Stale Bread

If you have bread left over that has gone a bit stale, don’t throw it away. Go frugal instead. Bread is a very useful staple that can still be used after its sell by date. Yet once past its best, many people throw bread away. Did you know that the average UK household throws away the equivalent of six meals every week and that the top three foods being thrown away uneaten include bread, potatoes and milk? We throw away the equivalent of 24 million slices of bread each day. (Source: WRAP)

There is no need to waste bread. It is such a versatile ingredient. Here are some recipe ideas to help you make the best of stale bread.

Stale bread is also a key ingredient of Cheese Fondue a perfect Winter dish. It is also essential to make crumbs (for coating, stuffing etc..), croutons (for salads & soup) as well as delicious bruschettas & crostinis.

A useful tip I learnt on a skiing holiday is that you can revive stale bread by wrapping it in a damp cloth and place it in a warm oven for 5-10 mins (works wonders on French baguette).
