With almost a third of all evening meals eaten in the UK now vegetarian or vegan, Pizza Express, is launching its Vegan Giardiniera in supermarkers so that everyone can enjoy it at home.
Over the past year, Pizza Express has been expanding the number of vegetarian and vegan options available in its restaurants.
The launch of the Vegan Giardiniera follows overwhelming demand from customers to enjoy wider dietary choices at home, including gluten-free, vegan and lighter options. The new pizza is now available in the chilled aisles of Waitrose.
Priced from £5, the Vegan Giardiniera is inspired by Pizza Express’ award-winning restaurant recipe: a classic 9” pizza topped with artichokes, closed cup mushrooms, red onion and black olives, with tomato, vegan mozzarella alternative (made from brown rice) and garlic oil, finished with fresh parsley.
Richard Mills, Head of Retail at Pizza Express, comments: “The launch of our Vegan Giardiniera into the grocery range is part of our strategy to broaden our offering around dietary choice. It is also set to complement our lighter eating, single-serve Leggera range and Gluten-Free Classic options. We have worked hard to ensure each pizza tastes delicious and offers a restaurant quality that families can enjoy at home.”
