A vegetarian BBQ is a lot of fun. and with so many meat-free options available there is no need for vegetarians, vegans and flexitarians to feel left behind.
If the prospect of a big cookout feels a bit daunting just follow these simple rules:
- Keep it simple: instead of mixing too many cuisines, stick to 1 or 2 where flavours complement each other.
- Prepare in advance: don’t leave it to the last minute. Make sure most of your vegetarian BBQ food can be prepared the day before.
- Get organised: put 1 or 2 people in charge of cooking on the barbecue and organise the rest of the food as a buffet.
- Nibble: have something for people to nibble on while they wait for the barbecue to work its magic.
- Keep it relaxed: choose food and dishes that are easy to eat with one hand or standing. Serve food on big sharing platters.
- Start early: make sure the barbecue gets fired up in advance so it has time to heat up. The timing depends on the type of barbecue you have.
