We celebrate the start of Chinese New Year with meat free versions of some traditional Chinese recipes.
For the next 15 days celebrations will take place around the world to mark the year of the goat, sheep or ram. Apparently there is a bit of a confusion this year caused by the Mandarin Chinese character yang: 羊 which means “horned animal”.
I am lucky enough to live close enough to Wing Yip a Chinese superstore where you can pretty much find anything, but it should be easy enough to find most ingredients for the recipes below from your local supermarket. I love wontons / dumplings which, despite appearances, are pretty straightforward to make. If you cannot find prepared dough / wrappers, do check this handy tutorial from the Kitchn to make them from scratch.
Make sure you share you favourite vegetarian or vegan Chinese dish in the comments bow below!
