Looking for a relaxed Italian spot by the water in central London? Amalfi Ristorante has just opened at St Katharine Docks, serving sourdough pizzas, fresh pasta and plenty of vegan and vegetarian dishes with views across the marina. Here’s what to expect, from the menu to the bottomless brunch and Italian Afternoon Tea.

St Katharine Docks has a brand new addition: Amalfi Ristorante. The Italian restaurant brings a slice of la dolce vita to one of London’s most historic waterfronts. It is the third London restaurant from Amalfi, joining the sites of Oxford Circus and St Paul’s.
The new venue has 100 covers and sits right on the marina, with a waterside terrace looking across the yachts towards Tower Bridge.
St Katharine Docks is one of my favourite spots in London, a peaceful haven tucked away from the busy tourist spots. It is even more atmospheric at night and I love meandering in the cobbled walkways and the marina.

I went along to Amalfi’s launch party this week, and was instantly charmed by the relaxed and contemporary atmosphere. Greenery hangs down from halo lights creating botanical chandeliers, while black and white Italian street life photo frames hang on the walls. The mustard and navy chairs and banquette give the whole place a understated retro warmth.
I also absolutely love the beautiful outdoor waterfront seating where you can dine and drink while overlooking the marina.

A historic waterside setting
Thomas Telford designed St Katharine Docks, which opened in 1828 and once brought tea, sugar, spices and perfume into London. The docks closed to commercial shipping in 1968 and were turned into today’s marina during the 1970s. That makes it a fitting backdrop for an Italian restaurant inspired by the Amalfi Coast.

Vegan and vegetarian options at Amalfi St Katharine Docks
The menu offers hand-stretched sourdough pizzas as well as fresh pasta (both can be made gluten-free on request) There are also many seafood options so flexitarians are well catered for.
Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes are clearly marked. The plant-based choices include garlic flatbread, bruschetta, a Verdure pizza and rigatoni arrabbiata. Vegetarians can also try burrata, wild mushroom fondue, wild mushroom and truffle pizza, handmade ricotta and spinach ravioli, or mushroom risotto.
The drinks list includes a good selection of Italian wines, beers, spritzes, cocktails, mocktails and plenty of fizz.

Bottomless brunch and Afternoon Tea by Tower Bridge
Weekends bring a 90-minute bottomless brunch at £45 per person. That covers a starter, one pizza or pasta dish, as well as Aperol Spritz, Prosecco or Beer.
The Italian Afternoon Tea starts at £28.95 and is served daily from 12pm to 6pm, which makes it a handy break between visits to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
