Quorn launches Vegan Fishless Fillets range

April 2, 2019 · The Flexitarian 4 Comments

Quorn launches Vegan Fishless Fillets range v2

In a bid to alleviate demand on decreasing fish stocks, Quorn has just launched a Vegan Fishless Fillets range. Quorn Vegan Salt & Vinegar Battered Fishless Fillets and Quorn Vegan Lemon & Pepper Breaded Fishless Fillets are now available from major supermarkets nationwide. Instead of fish, Quorn uses mycoprotein with added seaweed extract to create a fishy flavour.

As consumption rises, global fish production is approaching its sustainable limit, with around 90% of the world’s stocks now fully or overfished. Wild fish is not only caught for direct human consumption but also to produce animal feed as well as fishmeal for aquaculture.  Decreasing our consumption of animal proteins is paramount to developing new sustainable diet solutions that are not only healthy but also help combat overfishing and restore fish stocks and marine health.

Quorn Vegan Salt & Vinegar Battered Fishless Fillets and Quorn Vegan Lemon & Pepper Breaded Fishless Fillets are both very convincing as fish substitutes. My personal preference goes to the Salt & Vinegar Battered Fishless Fillets which are more flaky than the Lemon & Pepper Breaded Fishless Fillets. Both products are low in saturated fats and high in fibre. However, it is important to remember that contrary to fish they do not contain essential fatty acids such as omegas 3 & 6.

Guaranteed to triumph around the dinner table is Quorn’s Vegan Salt & Vinegar Battered Fishless Fillets. With a delicious flaky fish texture, the fillets are great for adults and children alike. Each Fillet is less than 105 calories and is low in saturated fat. Served perfectly alongside homemade chunky chips and mushy peas.

Quorn’s Vegan Lemon and Pepper Breaded Fishless Fillets are an ideal mid-week meal option that the whole family will love, be they vegan, pescatarian, or trying to reduce their environmental impact – simply irresistible served with crispy wedges and minted peas.

Stored frozen, all products in the Quorn Vegan Fishless Fillets range are oven-cooked to crispy golden perfection in under 22 minutes.

Quorn’s Vegan Fishless Fillets range carries the registered vegan trademark logo. Not only does this certification verify that the products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, but it also makes it even easier to spot on supermarket shelves. Quorn is also working with the Carbon Trust for carbon footprint accreditation.
