Craving a meat-free Christmas? Hosting a dinner party with veggie or vegan guests doesn’t need to be a panic-inducing ordeal. Instead, you can enjoy the season with the new range of Tesco vegan and vegetarian festive food.
Tesco has not only doubled its vegan festive main dish offering but has also launched its first ever vegan party food lines as well as a Christmas vegan sandwich, a Bubble and Squeak special from Wicked Kitchen featuring spiced potato and veg style fritter with chestnut stuffing, tangy cranberry chutney and crisp red cabbage.
According to Tesco‘s own research, 1 in 5 will host a vegan or vegetarian guest this Christmas and more people will be serving vegan and vegetarian mains than serving goose, turkey’s famous rival.
“A clear North-South divide has also emerged when it comes to a ‘green’ Christmas, with popularity waning as you get further up the UK. In Scotland, just five per cent of families will sit down to a vegan or vegetarian Christmas dinner compared to nine percent of people living in the South (South West, South East, London and East of England). Indeed, Brighton has been declared the vegan capital of the UK, with 12 percent of Christmas hosts there set to cook up a plant-powered main, compared to hosts in Glasgow and Liverpool, who are the least likely to cater for vegans (one percent).”
