Following the success of its vegan and vegetarian Summer Menu, Pizza Express is adding a vegan Puttanesca pizza and Dolcetti Carrot Cake to its Autumn Menu. These two new dishes are the perfect add-ons to the chain’s ever expanding food and wine vegan selection.
The vegan Puttanesca pizza features all the usual players of the classic Puttanesca – olives, capers and red onions, but with a new star of the show – long-time vegan favourite, the mighty jackfruit. Jackfruit, which is the largest tree fruit in the world, has a naturally distinctive texture, closely resembling pulled pork (it’s been known to known to fool even the most dedicated of meat-eaters!). It’s also incredibly versatile, taking on the flavour of whatever it’s cooked with – making it the perfect match for the punchy Puttanesca sauce.
What’s more, the vegan Puttanesca pizza is the first vegan Pizza Express pizza served on a Romana base; a thinner, crispier version of the ‘Classic’ base, it’s the perfect way to squeeze on even more toppings.
Also new on the menu is a moist, rich and flavoursome vegan Dolcetti Carrot Cake which can be served with a choice of coffee or tea, with soya milk also available on request.
