This Green Winter Smoothie is bursting with vitamins and nutrients to help combat the winter bugs and boost your immune system. Sweeten to taste with maple syrup.
If you are short on time, prepare the smoothie ingredients ahead (except for the water and maple syrup) and stick them in the freezer. Remember to cut the fruits and ginger into smaller pieces otherwise, your blender might find it difficult to whizz through the frozen mix. When you are ready to use it, simply throw all the frozen ingredients into your blender. You might have to use more water if it is too thick.
The quantities for this Green Winter Smoothie make enough for one large smoothie.
Green Winter Smoothie
- 1/2 orange
- 1 banana
- 1 large kale leaf – hard stalk removed
- 1 kiwi
- 1/4 thumb of ginger
- 2 tsp flax seeds
- 250 ml water
- maple syrup to taste
- Put all the ingredients in a blender (except the maple syrup). Blend until smooth. Add ice cubes and blend again if you prefer your smoothie chilled. Sweeten if needed with maple syrup.
