The Hot List – May 2016

The Hot List - May 2016
1. HODMEDOD’S BRITISH ROASTED PEAS WITH HORSERADISH
Our visit to the London’s Falafel Festival was a big success for the whole family. We enjoyed delicious falafels in the relaxed atmosphere of Borough Market. We also picked up a few bags of Hodmedod’s British Roasted Peas with Horseradish. They make a super delicious and tasty snack. So addictive! Beans, peas and quinoa, all Hodmedod’s pulses and grains are British-grown. My kids even ended up claiming a packet of roasted British Fava Beans as their own 🙂

2. APE CRISPY COCONUT CURLS
For a healthy snack option, try Ape Crispy Coconut Curls. Lightly seasoned, they are gluten-free, high in fibre and contain no added sugar or artificial flavours.

3. NOTNUTS SMOOTH BUTTER
My addiction to peanut butter started when I lived in the US. NotNuts is a delicious alternative that contains no peanuts, nuts, gluten, dairy or soy. A really tasty choice for anyone with a peanut allergy. It is made with chickpea flour, coconut fat, oil and sugar.

4. LUNCHBOTS LUNCH CONTAINER
I am a big fan of Lunchbots. Their stainless steel lunch containers are easy-to-clean and virtually unbreakable. The clever compartments prevent food from getting mixed up so you can pack together fruits, sandwiches, nuts etc. There are no linings or toxins such as BPA or phthalates. Only food-grade stainless steel comes into contact with the food. Being keen on reducing food and packaging waste, I have a whole selection at home for my kids’ packed lunch or whenever we are out and about. My husband has the slightly bigger bento box, suited to his bigger appetite. I really like Lunchbots‘ latest lunchboxes design with colourful snap-on lid covers. You can mix and match to coordinate with the other containers in the range.

5. PERTWOOD ORGANIC YACON GRANOLA
Based in Wiltshire, Pertwood offers tasty organic breakfast cereals. Their new range is made with Yacon, a root crop from South America that is naturally sweet. Yacon has a low GI and is also a pre-biotic beneficial to gut health and healthy digestion. Pertwood’s Organic Yacon Granola is a delicious blend of oats, seeds, dates, barley and coconut. My biggest criticism of store-bought granolas is that they are usually too sweet. This one is just right with only 13.3g of sugar per 100g.
