Wise Owl Tea – Around The World In a Teacup

Wise Owl Tea

I was really looking forward to receiving samples from Wise Owl Tea to review. The whole philosophy of the company of creating tea inspired by far away places certainly appeals to my adventurous spirit. While my backpacking days are on hold for now (until my kids can carry their own backpacks anyway) I quite fancy the idea of travelling around the world in my teacup.

Wise Owl Tea came about from a love of travelling to far off lands and experiencing local cuisines.  Steve, one of the founder explains “We are a couple of friends, who enjoyed travelling the world discovering how local people used herbal infusions for their health benefits, and developed an appreciation of the different flavours.  We brought home some ingredients, and what started as a labour of love in the kitchen developed into a small company producing organic herbal tea.  While collecting all the herbs we were reminded of the 18th century merchant sailors sourcing the finest ingredients and returning to England by ship to sell their sought after prized goods.  This inspired us to develop our unique packaging showing old world maps of exotic lands that are the home of our teas, reminiscent of the old tea containers carried on ships.  We source all organic ingredients and hand make our teas in silky tea temples.  Each one made with a little bit of love!”

Wise Owl Tea ethically source all their ingredients which bear the QAL GMBH Organic certification. All products are packed by hand in London and sold online or via small retailers including luxury fine food hampers and healthfood shops.

The samples I received were Corsican Olive Leaf Tea (Olive Leaf, Apple and Pineapple) and Tahitian Night Night (Liquorice Root, Chamomile flower, Lavender flower, Lime flower and Valerian Root).

To be honest Corsican Olive Leaf Tea would not have been my first choice but I am so glad Wise Owl Tea sent it as it absolutely delicious. It is warming and sweet, just like the “Isle of Beauty” it is inspired from. Tahitian Night Night is very relaxing and calming especially after a busy day.

Wise Owl Tea

I also loved the packaging of Wise Owl Tea. The tea leaves are contained in silky pyramid teabags which I am told improves the brewing.  The ancient world maps are gorgeous. I can certainly see myself having a whole selection in my cupboard for wherever I am in the mood to go to! And yes, the possibilities are endless as the full range include:

Tahitian Night Night

Bali Bamboo Leaf

Jamaican Lemongrass

Corsican Olive Leaf

Peruvian Azteca Fire

Antiguan Cinnamon Spice

If you want to try Wise Owl Tea, do visit their shop on amazon.co.uk or their website at www.wiseowltea.co.uk . A box of 15 teabags retails between £4.50 and £5.50.

Wise Owl Tea will also be showcasing their teas at the Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival from 29th to 31st August.

I am now off to Corsica (in my teacup, again)!
