Due to popular demand, Cauldron Foods is bringing back its veggie sausages permanently!
I have got some very good news! Cauldron Foods is bringing back its vegetarian sausages permanently.
These are our favourite meat-free sausages and there was a lot of disappointment in our house when Cauldron Foods’ vegetarian sausages were replaced by a vegan equivalent that was truly not up to the same quality.
Judging by what I saw on social media, we were not the only ones not to like them (and complain). So hats off to Cauldron Foods to listen to its customers and bringing back its vegetarian sausages (big sigh of relief!)
The Same Original Recipe
The veggie sausages are back in the same two scrumptiously classic, familiar flavours: Lincolnshire and Cumberland. They are perfect for any occasion, from an alfresco barbecue in the summer months, or a quick and easy weeknight meal such as these Vegetarian Sausage Traybake or Vegetarian Sausage Casserole, to the centrepiece of a Sunday dinner, served with mash and gravy or even as part of a classic toad in the hole.
“It’s the same original recipe, produced in the same process, to deliver the same taste and texture that’s well-loved. They are better for you, being high in protein and low in saturated fats. And the products are better for the environment as they are certified as Carbon Neutral and the packaging is 100% recyclable.”
Cauldron Foods’ Cumberland sausages provide a depth of succulent flavour certain to tantalise the tastebuds with every bite. These peppery sausages are a delicious way to warm up the palette this spring with a recipe consumers know and love. Equally, the luscious Lincolnshire sausages have a wonderful herby flavour featuring sage and parsley – an adaptable and diverse composition that is perfect for a wide variety of delicious recipes and meals.
What’s more, the cooking time of these tasty Cauldron Foods’ sausages can be almost halved by air frying them. With a whopping 13 minutes saved from your cooking time, (from 20 to seven speedy minutes). In addition, with energy prices at a high, not only can these delicious treats help the planet, but they can also help the bank balance.
RRP £2.75*. Both flavours are available at the below stockists:
– Tesco stores from 3rd April.
– Waitrose stores from 19th April.
– Sainsburys stores from 3rd May.
Lincolnshire flavour available at the below stockist:

Richard says
As you suggest, there will be much rejoicing that Cauldron actually listened to their customers and brought the old recipes back. The vegan version was well meaning but truly awful! We’ve tried a range of alternatives to fill the gap in our weekly menus and haven’t found anything to match the veggie versions for flavour and/ or texture.
theflexitarian says
Hi Richard, We have had the same issues so very glad Cauldron is re-introducing the vegetarian version. I have not been able to find them in shops near me yet. Have you? Annabelle
Phil Willmott says
Great that the original sausage recipe has been reinstated- shame that Lymington Waitrose has decided not to stock them anymore. What do we do now? All the competing product range from dire to barely edible.
theflexitarian says
That’s annoying. I think you need to write to Waitrose and Cauldron!
Fox says
They have changed them again over the last two weeks and they are back to being bad. This time they contain egg but taste and look as bad as the vegan version.
theflexitarian says
Oh no!!! I have not tried the new ones yet! So disappointing x
HildaD says
I thought they had changed again. Why do they keep messing around with them. I don’t like them any more. I am going to stop buying them.
The Flexitarian says
Yes they have changed again. The new ones have less salt. They are good (maybe not as good as they original but a big improvement on the vegan ones). Ax
Sarah says
Recipe changed again and, although better than the horrible vegan ones, they are not as nice as the originals – I will, yet again, be looking for an alternative.
The Flexitarian says
There are better than the vegan ones for sure but I agree not as good as the originals. Less salty though so that is a plus.
