Seasonal Recipes for July

July is the height of summer in the UK, bringing an abundance of fresh vegetables, vibrant salads and sweet, juicy fruits. It’s one of the best months for seasonal cooking, with ingredients like courgettes, tomatoes, peas and berries at their peak. For early summer recipes check out my June recipe collection.

This is the time for light, colourful meals, quick dishes and recipes that make the most of fresh, in-season produce. Whether you’re looking for easy summer dinners, healthy plant-based meals or fresh recipe inspiration, these July seasonal recipes will help you cook with what’s best right now before peak summer / glut cooking season in August.

What’s in season in July in the UK

July offers one of the widest selections of seasonal produce, making it ideal for simple, flavour-packed cooking.

Vegetables in season

  • Courgettes – Versatile and perfect for roasting, grilling or pasta
  • Tomatoes – At their best in salads, sauces and light dishes
  • Peas – Sweet and fresh, ideal for summer recipes
  • Broad beans – Nutty and great in salads and grain bowls
  • Fennel – Light and aromatic, perfect raw or roasted
  • Lettuce and salad leaves – Ideal for quick, fresh meals
  • Radishes and rocket – Add crunch and peppery flavour

Fruits in season

    • Strawberries – Still at their peak
    • Raspberries and blueberries – Perfect for desserts and breakfasts
    • Cherries – Sweet and juicy
    • Gooseberries and currants – Great for baking and compotes
    • Apricots and peaches – Ideal for summer dishes

July is one of the most abundant months, with “a wide range of fresh produce” and vibrant ingredients perfect for simple cooking. Look out also for artichoke, aubergine, broccoli, carrot, watercress PLUS blackberry, kiwi, melon, and gooseberry.
