Carrot Recipes
Great all-rounders, carrots are incredibly versatile and ideal to create tasty vegetarian and vegan recipes. We owe the modern orange carrots to our Dutch neighbours but did you know that from purple to cream carrots grow in different shades? You can still find beautifully coloured heritage crops in farmer markets today. You can easily grow carrots at home in a small bed. This is a great opportunity to try different varieties and had colour to your dishes.
You can cook carrots in a number of ways such as grilling, roasting, blanching, steaming, stir-frying or sauteing them. They are also really tasty raw grated in salads and add a natural sweet note to smoothies and juices. You do not necessarily need to peel carrots before cooking them. Just give them a good scrubbing beforehand instead and use organic carrots whenever possible. Shredded carrots also add texture and sweetness to baked goods such as carrot cakes, muffins etc..
