Waffles are such a treat. I love them for breakfast oozing with maple syrup, for brunch with something savoury or as an after school snack with fruits.
They are very popular in our house but my old waffle maker was not living up to expectations so I had more or less given up on them. Imagine my kids’ excitement when they saw the new Heston Blumenthal‘s No Mess Waffle Maker™ by Sage Appliances proudly sitting on the kitchen countertop. I have to admit I was pretty excited too!
As a food blogger, I spend a lot of time cooking in my kitchen and consequently a lot of time cleaning it. This is certainly not the part I enjoy, hence I was intrigued to find out if the No Mess Waffle Maker™ would live up to its name.
Straight away, my first batch was a resounding success. My perfectly cooked crispy waffles went down a treat. Thanks to the 7 darkness settings (from light & soft to dark & crispy), I was able to produce everyone’s perfect waffle on demand!
And yes, it really is mess free, as any excess batter is easily caught in the integrated overflow moat where it carries on cooking. Because of the non-stick surface, those extra bits are easily cleaned up (or eaten!)
The No Mess Waffle Maker™ is very easy to use. It lights up once pre-heated and even beeps once the waffle is cooked! I found this sooo useful. With kids running around I always get distracted. Let’s face it, as I am trying to cook waffles, I am also preparing toppings, setting the table, sorting out the latest tantrums and so on. The beeping function, something my old waffle maker did not have, is super convenient.
And while we are talking about practicalities, I have to say that I was amazed that the No Mess Waffle Maker™ is so compact and can easily be stored upright.

As you might have guessed, I LOVE my new waffle maker and am looking forward to creating new recipes. I am very impressed by the quality and performance. After 2 weeks of intensive use I have not cooked a single bad waffle.

Does not every waffle maker have a little moat around it to catch overflow, or is that Mirro waffle maker from the 1960s just some kind of illusion.
Hi Ian – I am not familiar with the Mirro waffle maker. As you can see from the picture, the No Mess Waffle Maker has a wide moat. The batter will not overflow on the outside of the waffle maker, a common problem when waffle makers designed with small moats. Annabelle
