Invigorating Apple, Pear & Spiced Ginger Smoothie

I absolutely love this combination of flavours—the natural sweetness of apples and pears pairs beautifully with the warming spice of cardamom and the subtle heat of ginger. This smoothie is a fantastic choice for breakfast or as a nourishing snack when you’re craving something sweet but want a healthier alternative to chocolate or sugary treats.

Cardamom and ginger are especially beneficial in the colder months, as they are known for their immune-boosting properties and can help prevent and relieve cold and flu symptoms. They also support digestion, making this smoothie both soothing and refreshing.

To add an extra nutritional boost, I’ve included shelled hemp, which is rich in plant-based protein, iron, and healthy fats—helping to keep you full and energised for longer.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 pear
  • 1 apple
  • 250 ml almond milk
  • seeds of 2 cardamom pods
  • 1/2 thumb of ginger root
  • 2 Tbsp shelled hemp
(Switch on to prevent your screen from going dark)

Instructions
 

  • Core the apple and pear. Cut into quarters.
    1 pear, 1 apple
  • Put the fruits in a blender with all the other ingredients.
    250 ml almond milk, seeds of 2 cardamom pods, 1/2 thumb of ginger root, 2 Tbsp shelled hemp
  • Whizz until smooth and serve.
