Seasonal Recipes for November

November in the UK marks the transition to true winter cooking.  The days are shorter and cooler, which means seasonal produce shifts from vibrant autumn flavours to more hearty, comforting ingredients—perfect for warm soups, roasts, one‑pots and slow‑cooked meals. For some late autumn comfort recipes check out my October recipe selection.

In this November seasonal recipes guide, you’ll discover what’s in season right now, plus easy, nourishing recipe ideas that celebrate UK produce at its best. Whether you’re after cozy dinners, make‑ahead meals or hearty plant‑based comfort food, you’ll find inspiration here. If you are planning ahead, here are my December winter seasonal cooking collection.

What’s in season in November in the UK

November brings a shift toward winter crops, robust vegetables and rich, earthy flavours.

Vegetables in season

  • Brussels sprouts – Sweet and nutty when roasted
  • Cabbage and kale – Great in stews, braises and salads
  • Carrots and parsnips – Perfect for roasting or soups
  • Swede and turnips – Earthy and comforting
  • Leeks – Sweet and versatile for soups and pies
  • Potatoes – Still abundant and versatile
  • Cauliflower and broccoli – Hearty and filling

Fruits in season

  • Apples and pears – Still good in early November
  • Blackberries and late berries – For desserts and breakfast bowls
  • Cranberries – Seasonal for sauces and baking

This mix of winter greens, root veg and orchard fruits makes November ideal for warming, high‑flavour cooking. Look out also for artichoke, beetroot, celeriac, pumpkin, sweet potato, mushrooms PLUS chestnut, passion fruit, and walnut.
