September is one of the most abundant months for British produce, as late summer crops overlap with early autumn harvests.
Vegetables in season

- Courgettes – Continuing from summer, often in abundance
- Peppers and aubergine – Great for roasting and traybakes
- Sweetcorn – Juicy and perfect for simple dishes
- Runner beans and green beans – Fresh and crisp
- Beetroot – Earthy and perfect for salads or roasting
- Cabbage and cauliflower – Early autumn staples
- Carrots and potatoes – Versatile and widely available
Fruits in season
- Apples – One of the defining fruits of September
- Pears – Sweet and perfect for desserts or salads
- Plums and damsons – Ideal for baking and compotes
- Blackberries and raspberries – At their best in early autumn
- Figs and grapes – Sweet and rich late-summer fruits
