Away from festive recipes, January is the start of a new year and a return to simple, nourishing meals after the festive season. In the UK, seasonal cooking in January focuses on hearty root vegetables, winter greens and comforting ingredients that are perfect for soups, stews and wholesome dishes.
While it’s a quieter month for fresh produce, there’s still plenty to cook with—from leeks and cabbage to carrots, potatoes and citrus fruits. Whether you’re looking for healthy recipes, budget-friendly meals or comforting winter dishes, these January seasonal recipes will help you make the most of what’s in season right now. Check out my February recipe collection for more winter comfort inspiration.
