Goodbye July. August is the height of summer in the UK and one of the most abundant months for seasonal produce. Gardens and markets are full of ripe vegetables and sweet fruits, making it the perfect time for simple, fresh and flavour-packed cooking.

What’s in season in August in the UK
August brings an incredible variety of produce, especially vegetables that are at their absolute peak.
Vegetables in season
- Tomatoes – At their sweetest and most flavourful
- Courgettes – Abundant and incredibly versatile
- Aubergine – Perfect for roasting and grilling
- Peppers – Sweet and ideal for salads or cooked dishes
- Cucumber – Refreshing and great for summer meals
- Sweetcorn – Juicy and perfect grilled or boiled
- Green beans – Crisp and fresh
Fruits in season
- Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries – Still going strong
- Blackberries – Wild and perfect for desserts
- Peaches and nectarines – Sweet and juicy
- Plums – Great for baking and compotes
This is the time of year when produce is at its most abundant—perfect for simple cooking and reducing food waste. Look out also for artichoke, beetroot, broad bean, broccoli, carrot, fennel, leek, lettuce, marrow PLUS apricot, kiwi, and melon.
