Seasonal Recipes for June

June marks the start of summer in the UK, bringing an abundance of fresh vegetables, vibrant salads and the first wave of sweet summer fruits. It’s the perfect time to move towards lighter, quicker meals built around ingredients like peas, courgettes, broad beans and juicy strawberries. Browse May late spring recipes here.
 
Whether you’re looking for easy midweek dinners, healthy plant-based meals or fresh summer recipe ideas, these June seasonal recipes will help you make the most of what’s in season right now. If you are planning ahead, check out my July recipes.

What’s in season in June in the UK

June is one of the most exciting months for seasonal eating, with a huge variety of fresh produce available.

Vegetables in season

  • Peas – Sweet and tender, perfect for pasta, risotto and salads
  • Broad beans – Nutty and fresh, ideal in light summer dishes
  • Courgettes – Delicate and versatile, great roasted or spiralised
  • Cucumber – Crisp and refreshing, perfect for salads
  • Lettuce and salad leaves – At their best for light meals
  • New potatoes – Ideal for boiling, roasting or salads
  • Asparagus (end of season) – Still available early in the month

 

Fruits in season

  • Strawberries – At their peak and full of flavour
  • Cherries – Sweet and perfect for desserts or snacking
  • Gooseberries – Tart and great for crumbles
  • Raspberries and currants – Fresh, vibrant and ideal for summer dishes

June offers a wide range of produce, from leafy greens to summer berries, making it ideal for simple, fresh cooking. Look out also for artichoke, aubergine, beetroot, broccoli, carrot,  fennel, lettuce, mange tout, new potatoes, radish, runner bean, spinach, spring onion, tomato, watercress PLUS blueberry, and kiwi.
